CINCINNATI, OHIO - March 25, 2011 - City Beat Newspaper for the last
four years has attacked the Cincinnati NAACP.  The Cincinnati NAACP
has not responded until today.  Last week Kevin Osborne wrote an
article that was not true.  This week Osborne is retracting statements
made in the article from a week ago.  The reporter relied on
information he received from the Hamilton County Democratic Party
Chair
Tim Burke.  The reporter failed to check facts.  "The person he
asserted was a criminal is in the financial industry and should sue
City Beat," Christopher Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP
said.
.
Mr. Burke has now issued an apology letter for putting out false
information.  The problem is damage has already been done.  "The
editors of City Beat might want to have a meeting with Mr. Osborne
about journalism 101.  It is important to check facts prior to
printing articles in a public newspaper.  When you present opinions in
a newspaper as facts your publication turns into fish wrap,"
Smitherman says.
